My Evaluation

This sequence it show my match on action and quick cut edit. My creativity has been influenced by other media such as movies. In my continuity sequence, the narrative I created is where a boy is late for class and has a very important assignment to finish in that hour and if he loses anytime he will fail that assessment so he has to log into the computer before his teacher sees him.

His mother called him to see if he has arrived to school because he had left the house late , also His friend called him t see if he was gonna make It onetime so he can distract the teacher so he could sneak in. As soon as he hanged up , he was able to sneak into class without getting caught by the teacher and was Abe to log into the computer.

. My intension was to show my script writing skills and how I can convey a narrative through single camera techniques. The techniques I used and presented in my edit was my cross cutting skills when it cuts to the object then to the close up shot of the person, my variety of camera angles to show different perspective of what the boy was doing and how he did it , also I caught a lot of close up to see the facial expression of the boy when he knew he was late for lesson. using these skills this was a clear understanding for the audience and Aldo for the audience to follow the story line of the simple sequence that engages and pulls the focus for the audience.

My Evaluation

The purpose of the Dettol advert was to show I can can edit footage without using chronological as a story from start to finish.  To show my non continuity editing I used a variety of different shots that was not in chronological to the other footage used. My  approach was to make the audience aware of a dangerous virus going around and it was used to remind and help others to use hand sanitizer to make sure everyone else is safe. this is used to help me in how to edit a non continuity trailer.

Inspired by the 'Flash' advert this is introducing how to clean dirty surfaces to stay clean and safe. the main character of the advert was Jibraan that was the advertiser he gave a jolly personality this is to show the audience that he is happy to stay safe and to protect himself from anything that can harm him or others that are around him. Techniques I used a lot of was blackout and dissolve transition which shows of my skill and make the advert more interesting and and memorable for the audience. I think my camera shots convey it's an advert sequence to the audience. I think the final product came out well and it shows my editing techniques.

THE DEATH OF THE WEEPING WOMEN

My Evaluation

Following codes and conventions I used continuity at the beginning of my horror trailer to creative an understanding storyline for the audience , this is to show the audience what the film will be about . As for a Horror themed films I tried to recreated a lot of supernatural techniques such unique and unusual angles to shape confusion and unsettling feelings with the viewer.  Correlation to the theme of horror Mise-en-scene  is used to help tell what type of genre the film will be about , such as the setting / location of horror films. My setting was set at a haunted house that looked very run down and out of use . The location gives a brief idea on how the film will play out. Costumes and props help viewer see who the characters look like , this can also help the audience give assumptions on what type of character is they are. The costume of The antagonist wore a white robe , this can signify a dead women coming back to haunts those that caused her pain and anger , I got my inspiration from the movie ( The Grudge ) as the women is dressed in a white gown and haunts people to their death . The reason I chose this as my inspiration is because women are stereotyped to be intelligent and kind hearted and men are stereotyped to be aggressive and angry , but in my trailer I changed the gender norm where the roles were reversed as the female antagonist is represented as cold blooded and evil as she haunts children until she kills them. Props is used to created more of an eerie , intense effect on the viewer , it can also be used to create a sense of realism for the audience. For my trailer I only used a tap that would drip out blood to represent one of the characters blood leaking out this to create fear for the viewer. I used one prop for my trailer as I didn't want to give too much away to the audience . For My Character in my trailer I have 7 characters that all have different reactions to the antagonist , the first only felt the antagonist and never saw her , the rest of the characters got to see the antagonist physically and experienced what the antagonist was capable of doing to hurt them. Also a cliff hanger was at the end to (which is an enigma as it creates a question the audience itself needs to answer)

Throughout my trailer I used both continuity and non-continuity , as for horror films non-continuity is used a lot to keep their audience on the edge of their seat and also for their audience to be more intrigued on what's happening in the film , continuity is only used to give a story to the audience so that the audience cannot be not confused while watching. For my horror trailer the pace of the shots were really important,  as , slow shots were used to introduce the characters to the camera and to see their  facial expressions , this can give chance for the audience to assume who the characters might be in the film. Fast shots are mostly used as jump scares , reaction shots and blackout /flashing , these shots are used to creative jaw dropping feelings for the audience. Correlation to the pace of the shots , I used a lot of quick cuts to show the action during the film. I also used jump cuts to show the action in a fast pace. For lighting I used red lights and flashing lights to create the horror effect , as red connotes death , also in horror films lighting tend to be dark and underexposed with shadows making the audience feel tense and on edge.  For example in the trailer a girl was sleeping and something dragged her sheets of this is to construct pressure for the audience. The sounds in my trailer really help create the supernatural , horror effect together , because during the soundtrack behind the shots ,voiceover was used to catch a conversation between two characters and also to help the audience understand the structure of the film , also I used foley sound to remake a scream of a character.  The use of sounds , such as a high pitch key , dialogue ,  creates a sense of alarm with the audience. The common pattern of a horror trailer was structured with an opening setting to show where the action will be place , then an introduction to each of the character showing their facial expression and personality , this is an easy way to know which character is which. Jump scares are towards the end of the trailer to leave the audience in shock . Captions are used throughout the trailer to give a story line to the audience without the character's speaking. For a horror trailer the target audience would be between 15-18 as that is a very mature age to watch supernatural , gruesome films , but in my opinion I think for my trailer the appropriate age for a horror film would be between 16-20 + . The reason why I chose this age is because , personally in my opinion I think from ages 16-20 are more mature to watch supernatural film .

How successful is my trailer to a normal horror trailer ?

I think that my trailer has shown a horror trailer really well as majority of my shots have been filmed at night which creates a Erie effect and also the soundtrack that was used has portrayed a scary effect upon the shots , also the voice over that has been added to my trailer to create a sense of realism for the audience and the characters , this makes me feel positive about my trailer because The cast played their characters really well and made it as realistic as possible.

I felt like I have met the brief as my trailer is 1 minute and 10 seconds long , I've added a variety of creative shot in my trailer such as Extreme long shot , tilting , extreme close up , etc. Over all i feel like i could've added more fast shots to create more of an scary effect , also with editing the shots that were taken at night i could've added a little bit of lighting to outline the main object.
